Our Therapy Approach
At Limitless Counseling Center, the main goal is to meet clients where they are at. Ultimately, we strive to create an environment that is welcoming, non-judgmental and one that leads to effective care. We work with counseling approaches and interventions that are grounded in empirical evidence, and that have been shown to be effective for the client’s primary concern.
Below is a list of approaches we rely most on and a brief description of each:
- Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is an approach that targets thinking patterns and behaviors that are disruptive to an individual’s functioning. This treatment is helpful with many different concerns including OCD, Anxiety, Depression and Eating Disorders. With CBT we would target unhelpful thinking patterns and maladaptive behaviors.
- Acceptance & Commitment Therapy (ACT) is also an approach that targets various thinking patterns and behaviors. However, instead of focusing on changing thoughts the target is changing the relationship with one’s thoughts. One thing that is really helpful with ACT is that goals are structured around values. Ultimately, coming back to what you value can be pivotal in creating meaningful change and reducing the frequency of unwanted thoughts.
- Exposure Response Prevention (ERP) is all about sitting with discomfort in order to reduce overall anxiety. ERP is very effective with treating OCD, Panic Disorder, Specific Phobias as well as other Anxiety disorders. When utilizing ERP, I work with clients to hierarchically face the things that keep them from living a meaningful life. This approach helps individuals do what they have historically thought is impossible and face their fears at a pace that creates lasting change. If you have questions about ERP or any of the approaches here, please don’t hesitate to reach out to us and we would be happy to provide you with more details.
- Prolonged Exposure (PE) is an approach we use for treating PTSD and trauma related symptoms. Utilizing memory scripts and Exposure Response Prevention, this assists in helping individuals process traumatic memories and approach his/her fears related to those events. There is a lot that goes into trauma work, and PE is just part of how we work with clients to get them to a place of safety and security after one or more traumatic events.
